I thought The Doctor was supposed to be the last time lord and now hes going to find another one whos still alive? The whole thing about him being the last one is rubbish if theres going to be a new one every series.

Rani's a Time Lady, not a Time Lord? Maybe that's the distinction?

Oh right I didnt realise being a time lord was gender specific Lol seems kind of old fashioned for such an advanced race.

From the Doctor's perspective, he thinks he's the only one left, because he can sense if they're there. If the Rani was in cryo or became human like The Master, then he wouldn't know they were there until they were either thawed out or became Time Lord again. I think it adds an interesting twist to the show, because for the first 2 3/4 seasons, he thought he was the last of the Time Lords, now slowly they're crawling out of the woodwork. What would be cool for the doc is if at some point he finds a small colony of Time Lords that had escaped the destruction of Galifrey, a group of friendly people for a change, not someone trying to rule the world. :) Although I'm sure they'd be a bit miffed at him for destroying Galifrey in the first place, but that would definitely make for an interesting story arc.
