Last week I watched Torchwood Series 1 on DVD and saw the Abaddon seen at the end of series 1 where Jack takes on the big goat demon and lives. The demon was basically trying to suck the life out of him, as he is for some reason immortal.

Could Phicorp or whoever have drained the life out of Jack and given it to everyone else? This would explain how they knew that he was mortal and sent the assassin after him. /discuss

At this point, everything and anything is possible. Judging by ep 4 it has something to do with Jack's past (the assassin's whisper...), but whether it's something alien, or earth-based, I really haven't a clue. :dontknow:

BTW, you wrote "he is for some reason immortal". Do you know the reason he's immortal? You do know it's because what happened to him in Doctor Who?

As far as I remember, it's something to do with Rose?

Yep, it was Rose. She looked into the Heart of Tardis and absorbed the time vortex. She couldn't control the power and brought Jack back forever (Jack had just been exterminated by the Daleks).

The answer is something Jack did in the past or gave to someone. What is great is that you don't hear Jack talk about what it could be, but you see it in the back of his mind the way John portrays him.

Unlike the 456 which Jack had no idea that what he did in 1965 would have caused trouble later on, this is something that Jack did do or was connected to. At least that is what I've pieced together.

What do you all think Jack might have gotten himself into in the past to cause another problem in the future?

It was , I think, something far back before the creation of UNIT---who have been suspiciously absent thus far. Some people in the 1800's got hold of some info on Jack's situation ,and these people later found themselves in UNIT, and other top gov't positions. At some point a piece of alien tech came their way that would redirect certain morphic fields. They had to wait for just the right time; when Torchwood was so depleted of staff and tech that a proper counter attack could not be mounted. And now their diabolical plan is almost complete; they just need to kill Jack and there is no way to correct the problem.
Laters! XOXOXO

I do miss the aliens in this series i have to say-the lack of them anyway. It may have something to do with jacks brother?
