Do we know what year it was when those two women strong-armed Jack into TW?

Isn't 1869 when he came back to Earth. I thought it was the 1890s when he came to the attention of TW. He only learnt he couldn't die in 1892(I think) in the US when he was shot and then he tried to get killed a lot after that and this brought him to the attention of Alice and Emily who tested his ability.

Pg 81 of the Encyclopedia states:"However, when he tried to use his Vortex Manipulator to get back to Earth, it shunted him back in time to 1869. Having discovered that he was immortal, Jack came to the attention of Torchwood Cardiff, who employed him on a freelance basis, which continued until near the end of the 1990's, when he joined the staff at Torchwood Three."

That is a direct quota. In Fragments Emily and Alice found him with a bottle shoved in his stomach right when he came back to life. He drunk and getting into bar fights, they were watching him.

Even though the book says its 60's it could be 1890's. I noticed some of the books were wrong when i was watching the tosh and mary episode and tosh said her birthdate. it was completely different from what torchwood yearbook said. so i'd go with the episodes because they were made first and the books were made after
