View Full Version : Children Of Earth
[spoiler:3clmcv02]Well, what to say about what happened? Is this the end of torchwood for good? Has RTD gone and taken Torchwood with him? Why take the show to pieces by killing off brillant characters and relationships apart from the man who cant die! and gwen who is having a baby so has other responsibilites.
There are so many fans in the world not alone the UK and I think it was a mistake to kill it off! I know some shows can continue until they have passed their best and if RTD thought it was best to finish the show at its best then so be it but i think it is a shame. Personally, i and many others perferred Torchwood rather than Doctor Who due to its deep dark storylines rather than a different alien invading earth every week with the Doctor coming to the rescue each time whilst at the same time using far too much CGI!
I liked how the show brought up real life issues such as homosexuality between Jack and Ianto which Doctor Who would never do as it is aimed too much towards children. I used to enjoy the old Doctor Who which was more complex and deep just like Torchwood is today (even if the sets were a bit wobbly) and I am very disappointed that the series ended like it did with Jacks character turning cold by sacrifising his own grandchild then running off into space.
I can say I enjoyed the story with emotional parts to say the least but I never expected this to be the end of torchwood when it was said it was a short series due to the recession?[/spoiler:3clmcv02]

[spoiler:2994mi7i]FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD from an interview with RTD he has already writen series 4 of torchwood. JB has also confirmed he will play Captain Jack for as long as the show will have him and Eve myles has also said various things in interviews that hints she will be carring on.
I completely understand you feeling this is the end of TORCHWOOD but it doesn't look like we can get rid of it that easy YAY!!!![/spoiler:2994mi7i]

[spoiler:ojx2bfc9]Well if there's gonna be a series 4 then YAY GREAT! :clapper:
But....without Ianto? ...Gwen having a kid? ...Jack all emo and dark?
Ugh...I don't know...
I'm just really putting my hopes on Ianto coming back and then with a longer life span or even immortal...maybe he'll come back in the big Doctor Who finaly? I mean Capt. Jack is gonna be there (Im pretty sure) ... maybe the Doctor helps him or something and brings him back? *hopes with all her might*[/spoiler:ojx2bfc9]

I would LOVE for Ianto to return but [spoiler:1lnep2my]he definalty looked dead at the end of day four [/spoiler:1lnep2my]
I will definatly miss his one liners . . especially about the one about the phones being out :laugh2: CLASSIC
Not sure what will happen to Gwen but i can just imagine her kicking alien ass by day and going home to feed the baby at night !!!
Plus captain Jack had better get his ass back down to earth!!!
Will be fun to see what the new hub looks like

It would seem they garnered good enough viewing figures to make a series 4. But it puzzles me as to what they would do from here. COE was the best TW yet, as heart breaking as it was. But it seems they've written themselves into a corner. I don't get their strategy. So they've picked up a around 25% share of the viewers this week but I can't see how this series serves as a hook to get new viewers for the next series.
[spoiler:3tyuzk0x]The new viewers are introduced to our what's left of our TW team, only to have all of them save one, Gwen, gone by the end of the show. Would people want to see the further adventures of Gwen Cooper or even Capt. Jack for that matter. I mean, not knowing the past episodes of TW you would only know Jack the grandson killer who takes off for parts unknown at the end of the show. Well, the show is done for me. Resurecting Ianto, wouldn't even fix it because reset buttons are not a satisfactory solution.[/spoiler:3tyuzk0x]

As soon as the BBC starts showing S4 trailers, people will remember how damn good CoE was, and they will watch at least the first episode. And depending on how they like that one, they'll keep watching or not.
And my guess is that it will be set in the future or in the past, and only have Jack from the 'old' team.
